Homers Nose (9023 ft) 11/11/05 Started from the 1923 bridge at Oak Grove From point 5870 the road goes downhill slightly This peak/route has the lowest starting elevation of any SPS peak. With a few exceptions a use trail sticks slightly to the North side of Salt Creek Ridge and avoids almost all brush problems. Follow the road north of point 6015 to a clearing at its end and then look for a use trail. You can also ascend the ridge (Salt Creek Ridge) before point 6015 but this will result in some challenging brush problems. As is typically the case the north side of the ridge (Salt Creek) is mostly clear of brush while the south side is quite dense.
