TopoQuads says 18.45 miles for the same track

The closest parking is in Manker Flat below the Mount Baldy Ski Resort parking area.
Icehouse Canyon has a nice parking area, restrooms, and trailhead.
Manker Flat was about 140 miles (2.5 hrs) from Bakersfield.

Shortcuts

There appears to be a prominant use trail that follows the ski lift.  Is it OK
to use this trail when the lift is not in operation?  It could save miles on
the descent (though because it's steep it wouldn't be as good for an ascent).

On the way down the dirt road from the notch, there's another dirt road (closer
to the bottom) that leads down more directly and ends at the ski lift parking
area.  This might shave off a mile on the descent.  I believe this is the
area labelled "Manker" on the topo map.
