Day was insanely hot and humid.  I expected shade but the clouds cleared off and I got cooked.  Heat was too excessive for me to continue trying to set a fast pace.  Had to back off to keep from overheating and even then I almost passed out a few times.  Fortunately it was cool on top but lower elevation was unbearable.  On the way down I killed as much time as possible to give time for the day to cool down just a little for the descent.
