San Jacinto (rear) as seen from the Vivian Creek trail
Looking North from San Gorgonio. Big Bear Lake can be seen in the distance.
Looking West at the trail leading up to the summit
San Jacinto as seen from San Gorgonio (on a typically hazy day).
The sandy "Tarn". The topo might make you think there's water here, but that's definitely not the case in June.
Because the topo has this spot drawn in blue I thought I could get water here. This may as well have been Death Valley. I was short on water almost all day.
What's this? It's out in the middle of nowhere on the edge of the tarn. It's apparently some USGS marker but why it's where it is I don't know.
Bighorn Mountain as seen from Dragons Head. "The Tarn" is visible to the left.
Water. At last! This is on the Falls Creek Trail and probably comes from High Meadow Springs. 6:53pm.
Uh oh. It's getting dark and I've never been here before.
Last photo shortly before dark (a trail junction?). 8:02pm. I believe I finally reached my vehicle around 9:20pm.
