Anchor for our second rappel. Note that all anchors in this canyon should be backed up.
Digging a pit for a deadman anchor. Initially these were the only 2 rocks available.
Good thing we brought a shovel. This was really hard dirt here.
Pit complete. Six to eight inches down was a layer of rock that kept the pit a bit too shallow. We ended up created a second deadman as a backup.
We set up redundant/equalized deadman anchors for the final rappel. Due to a hard layer of rock 6-8 inches down the deadman pits were shallow so we weighted them down with all the rocks we could scavange.
