Start time: 6:05am. Just outside the Indian Ranch gate.
We stayed well outside the Indian Ranch property and then passed by this large boulder on our way to the mouth of the canyon.
End of the dirt road inside the mouth of the canyon. 6:49am.
Near the start of the old miner's "trail" on the north side of the canyon
Abort! We mistakenly followed a bighorn trail until it rounded a corner where it was extremely dangerous to proceed further.
We then descended down into the next canyon north of Hall which we should have done earlier.
Several minutes after dropping into the next canyon to the North we made a left turn at a fork in the canyon.
9:40am. Our first look into the impressive gorge below.
Now back on the main ridge on the North side of Hall Canyon
Let the bushwhacking begin! 11:13am. We start down the canyon.
Remains of an old fence in what seems like a rather odd location
Marker placed by Steve Smith (1st descent party) in 1994. The anchor is here as well.
2nd rappel. This one's a little wet and there's a pool at the bottom but you can skirt around it.
Anchor for 3rd rappel placed by Steve Smith (10/9/94)
Anchor (1 good bolt, 1 old bolt) for the rappel into or around the "deep slot"
This resident had a prior claim to our bivy spot
Yikes! This guy had a den next to our bivy spot.
Out of time. It's obvious we have to bivy at this point. 6:00pm.
2:13am. It started to get a bit cool so we built a small fire to keep us warm.
8:04am. Mike starts down the beautiful 9th? rappel.
Oh joy ... yet more bushwhacking. Will this torture never end? Answer: No.
Anchor for final rappel (#15): one piton and one 1/4 in bolt on south side of canyon
