Trailhead at corner of Lake & Loma Alta. Mike Schasch. 6:50am.
Here (at the trail junction near Echo Mountain) we mistakenly turned left and went up a half mile before realizing our mistake
Arriving at the drop-in for East Fork Rubio Canyon. 10:29am.
Water tank above the drop-in and the end of the fire road
A 50 foot single strand of webbing tied to a boulder forms the anchor for the next 2 rappels (the 2nd rappel is of Leontine Falls itself).
One more rap until we reach the main Leontine Falls
Rappel #10 down Leontine Falls. Just above the top of the falls is a pothole and a single bolt anchor (for emergency).
Confluence of East Fork Rubio and Main Fork Rubio. 5:36pm.
Lower Rubio Rap #6. There's a lot of loose rock on this one from recent landslides.
Lower Rubio Rap #6 second step. This is rap #7 if you use the bolts at the top. We just continued our rap down from #6.
Lower Rubio Rap #7 (or #8 if you did the last one with two seperate rappels)
Exit trail next to a wall which puts you onto the corner of Rubio Vista and Pleasantridge Drive
7:18pm. Total Time: 12 hours 28 minutes. This was followed by a 5 or 10 minute car shuttle back to Lake Avenue.
