Snow couloir to the right is the one that goes up between Piute Crags and Mount Emerson. To the immediate left of the couloir (above the left protruding finger) are two dark cracks. The left crack is the standard SE face route.
Supposedly the black stained chimney is the start of the route
We moved to the left about 40 feet to a shorter and drier yet more challenging route
Nice shot of Paul on a rather exposed friction slab
The snow patch. This is apparently where the water trickling down the gully comes from.
Turns out it was a good idea to bring ice axe and crampons
Hmmmmm. This gully (further west of the SE face) looked like another route worth exploring.
North Lake hiker parking. 5:54pm. Roundtrip time: 12 hrs 32 mins.
