At this point Bob and I took the left fork toward Carl Heller while the others continued on toward Trojan
First good look at Mt Carl Heller. Hmmmm. More snow than expected.
Mt Carl Heller. The snow covered ridge to the left is the east ridge.
I started up the snow in the couloir with crampons and ice axe
We switch back to crampons for this short portion
Mt Barnard (left), Trojan Peak (center), and Mt Williamson (right). Mt Carl Heller is also visible to the extreme left.
Mt Barnard (center rear). Mt Carl Heller is visible to the left and Vacation Pass is visible in photo center.
Russell/Carillon pass (center foreground) and Mt McAdie (center rear)
Approaching Russell/Carillon pass from the North
Getting up to Russell/Carillon pass was a little more work than you might think
Death traverse. Though I have traversed this in snow once before, this time we avoided it by climbing high and walking across the top. This is right before you reach the east summit.
Latest register entry. Looked like we were the first to sign in for the year for all 3 peaks. Couldn't quite make out the previous register entry though.
Mt Barnard (center). The tooth shaped peak to the right is Tyndall Peak.
Bob Burd approaching Russell's east summit (on the way back from the west summit)
Start of our glissade down to Clyde Meadow. It started out pretty steep.
Looking back up at our glissade path. This was an awesome glissade!
Closer shot of the lower portion of our glissade path
