Thor's NE slope. There was much less snow here than I expected.
The Keeler Needle (center) and Crooks Peak (left)
There is an interesting rock outcropping at the Notch
Here's the soft stuff I encountered near the top.
Be careful around all these loose rocks at the top. I wonder how many accidents might be averted if we kicked all these down someday when no one is around.
Looking down toward Trail Camp and the lower part of the switchbacks
The last few switchbacks before Trail Crest can be seen in this photo
Mount Muir (lower center) and Olancha Peak (rear center)
The summit register. Five climbers have made the summit since Richard and I were here in December.
Looking down the chute. Definitely looks steeper from above!
Here's the rocky band that can be awkward to cross
I used the rocky steps here to the right of the rock band on my way down.
Some of the snow below the notch was wind carved
This couple was setting up camp near the large frozen waterfall. Is that a Mountain Hardware EV2? I need one of those!
Two climbers set up camp below Thor Peak and the frozen waterfall
Lower Boy Scout Lake. This was the highest place to find flowing water.
These guys were doing a little rock climbing up the Ebersbacher ledges
I was a little intrigued and puzzled watching these guys.
Some of the lower part of the trail was completely clear of snow
Always a nice sight. Back at the trailhead. 5:46pm.
Took me another hour to pack up my bivy gear and get back down to my car.
