Sheets of ice near the start of the Ebersbacher Ledges
The famous pine tree at the start of the Ebersbacher Ledges
Good view of snow and ice on the Ebersbacher Ledges
Climbing the bowl. I went fairly directly up to the top of the bowl just left of center.
Further up the bowl the snow coverage turned to patchy and soft snow.
The easiest route goes this way, but I continued right on up the bowl this time for some easy class 3.
Approaching the top of the bowl - a small amount of easy class 3 here
Topping out above the bowl the large smooth slope on top of Thor Peak becomes visible.
Just a little further. The summit is a little to the right.
Mount Whitney and a view of the route leading up from UBSL
Photo of the slope leading up to the Russell/Carillon saddle from near UBSL. Mount Carillon is the peak in the center top of the photo.
