The trail makes its way up to a ridge which is mostly obscurred in this photo.
No wonder this tree is twisted and dead. It's freezing!
Poor visibility on the ridge and the wind is really picking up. 7:34am.
With tons of fresh powder, another 2300 ft of gain, and deteriorating conditions we are forced to abandon our summit attempt. 8:57am.
Now we just need to be sure not to lose somebody in this whiteout. Ice crystals were pelting our faces like sand blowing off a sand dune.
Eric on the way down. Conditions were much better as we descended from the ridge.
