Crooks Peak (left), Keeler Needle (middle), and Mount Whitney (right)
Tiny glaciers (or more precisely, permanent snowfields) below Crooks Peak and Keeler Needle
Looking up to the Notch from above Iceberg Lake.
I went up the left "gully" closer to the East Face
Iceberg Lake (Mount Carillon is visible in the rear)
Looking down at Iceberg Lake halfway up to the Notch.
Mount Carillon as seen from the Mountaineer's Route above Iceberg Lake.
Almost to the top of the Notch looking back down.
Mount Russell as seen from the Notch on the Mountaineer's Route.
Mount Williamson (rear) as seen from "The Notch"
Contouring around to the backside of Whitney (to avoid rockfall from climbers already in the chutes).
Coming up on the backside close to the main trail.
Approaching Mount Muir on the way down from Mount Whitney.
The switchbacks as seen from just below Mount Muir.
Mount McAdie (center) and Mount Langley (rear). Arc Pass is below Mount McAdie to the left.
Mount Mallory (just left of center), Mount McAdie (foreground far right), and Mount Le Conte (rear center).
Hitchcock Lakes (as seen from Mount Muir). Mount Hitchcock lies in the center of the photo behind the lakes.
Summit of Mount Muir looking down. Consultation Lake is visible to the upper far right.
Looking down at the John Muir Trail from Mount Muir.
Consultation Lake. Trail Camp lies next to the "puddle" in the lower portion of the photo. You can just make out a few tents and the solar toilet in the full size version of this photo. The start of the switchbacks can be seen in the lower right.
Mount Muir. This is essentially the class 3 route here. The rock is steep but the holds are good.
